Awards

Awards are one of PMSuite's supporting HR sections. An award is the category of recognition — the label attached to an appreciation when you recognise an employee. Defining award types first means every appreciation you record is consistently categorised.

Who can use it

Users whose role grants access to the HR area — typically Company Admin and HR roles. If the section does not appear for you, ask your Company Admin to review your role permissions.

Prerequisites

  • An active PMSuite company workspace.
  • At least one employee record, so there is someone to recognise.

How to Access

Awards live alongside recognition in the Appreciation area:

Sidebar → HR → Appreciation (/account/appreciations), then switch to the Award view using the award-badge button in the button group at the top of the page (/account/appreciations/awards).

The two icon buttons toggle between the recognition list (trophy) and the award list (badge). Awards has its own page, but it is not a separate sidebar menu item.

Working with awards

Step 1 — Open the Award list

Go to HR → Appreciation and click the award-badge button, or go straight to /account/appreciations/awards. The list can be filtered by Status (All / Active / Inactive) and searched by name.

Step 2 — Define your award types

Add the recognition categories your company uses. Each award has a Title, an Icon, a Colour, an optional Summary, and a Status (Active or Inactive). Give each one a clear, self-explanatory name so managers can pick the right one without guessing.

If your role includes the Manage Award permission, you can also create an award type on the fly from the appreciation form itself, without leaving the page.

Step 3 — Use an award when recording an appreciation

When you record an appreciation for an employee, select the award type that matches the reason for the recognition. See Appreciations for the full recording flow.

Step 4 — Review and adjust over time

Revisit your award list periodically and retire categories that are no longer used, so the list stays short and meaningful.

Effect on Other Features

  • Appreciations: Award types are the categories used by the Appreciations feature. A useful award list makes appreciations quicker to record and easier to read back.
  • Recognition history: Because appreciations carry an award type, the recognition an employee has received can be reviewed by category rather than as a flat list.
  • Self-appreciation: Employees can no longer give an appreciation to themselves, so awards are always granted by someone else. If a self-nomination process is wanted, collect nominations outside PMSuite and have a manager or HR record the appreciation.

Limitations

  • No dedicated Awards page in the sidebar. Workaround: bookmark /account/appreciations — that section is where recognition and its award categories live.
  • Awards on their own do not notify anyone. The recognition reaches the employee through the appreciation record, not the award definition. Workaround: always pair a new award category with an actual appreciation entry so the employee sees the recognition.
  • Renaming or removing an award changes only what is available going forward. Workaround: decide on your category names before rolling the programme out company-wide, and keep the list small so changes are rare.

Troubleshooting

I cannot find Awards in the sidebar. It is not a standalone menu item. Open HR → Appreciation (/account/appreciations).

The HR menu is not visible at all. Your role may not include HR access. Ask your Company Admin to check your role permissions.

An employee says they were not notified of their recognition. Confirm an appreciation record was actually created — defining an award category by itself does not recognise anyone.

I want to recognise myself. This is not possible; self-appreciation is blocked. Ask your manager or HR to record it.
