Pinning Tasks

Pinning marks a task as important for you personally. Pinned tasks are highlighted in the task list, carry a Pinned badge, sort to the top of the list, and can be isolated with a one-click Pinned filter. Pins are private — pinning a task changes nothing about the task itself and is not visible to your colleagues.

Who can use it

Any user who can open a task can pin it. Each user keeps their own separate set of pins, so two people looking at the same task can have different pin states.

Prerequisites

  • At least one task must exist. See Creating Tasks.
  • You must be able to see the task in question — pinning follows the same visibility rules as the rest of the Tasks module.

How to Access

  • Tasks list: /account/tasks
  • Single task: open the task from the list to reach its detail view.
  • Project tasks: open a project from /account/projects and use its Tasks tab.

Pin a task

From the task list

  1. Go to Projects → Tasks (/account/tasks).
  2. Open the Action menu at the end of the task's row.
  3. Choose Pin Task.
  4. Confirm in the dialog (Yes, pin it!). The list refreshes and the task now shows a Pinned badge with its row highlighted.

The same Action-menu option is available on the task list inside a project's Tasks tab.

From the task detail view

  1. Open the task.
  2. Open the Action menu in the task header.
  3. Choose Pin Task and confirm.

If the task is already pinned, the same menu shows Unpin Task instead.

See only your pinned tasks

On /account/tasks you have two equivalent controls:

ControlWhereWhat it does
Pin buttonTask list toolbar (pin icon)Toggles the list between all tasks and pinned-only
Type filterFilter panel, Type dropdown (All / Pinned / Private)Set to Pinned to show only your pinned tasks; set back to All to clear

Both controls drive the same filter, so switching one updates the other. The Pinned filter combines with the other task filters (project, assignee, status, priority, label, category, milestone, date range) — for example, pinned tasks assigned to you that are still Incomplete.

Even with no filter applied, pinned tasks are sorted ahead of unpinned ones, so your pins stay at the top of the list.

Unpin a task

  1. Open the Action menu on the task row or in the task detail header.
  2. Choose Unpin Task.
  3. Confirm (Yes, unpin it!).

The badge and row highlight disappear and the task drops out of the Pinned filter. Nothing else about the task changes.

Effect on other features

  • Task list ordering: pinned tasks are sorted first in the tasks list.
  • Task Report: pinned tasks are flagged with the same Pinned badge in the Task Report (/account/task-report).
  • Projects: projects can be pinned in the same way from /account/projects, using the Action menu on the project row or the project Overview tab. Project pins and task pins are tracked separately.
  • Everything else is untouched: pinning does not change status, priority, assignee, dates, permissions, notifications, or client visibility.

Limitations

  • Pins are personal, not a shared flag. You cannot use a pin to highlight a task for the whole team. Workaround: use a Label or Category, the Priority field, or a task comment with a mention — these are shared and filterable by everyone.
  • Pin and unpin are not available from the Task Board or Task Calendar views. Workaround: switch to the List view (or open the task's detail page) to change the pin state, then return to your preferred view.
  • There is no separate "pinned tasks" page or widget. Workaround: apply the Pinned filter on /account/tasks and bookmark the resulting page in your browser for one-click access.
  • Pinning and unpinning ask for confirmation and reload the list, so it is slow for bulk changes. Workaround: pin only the handful of tasks you are actively tracking, and use filters for larger groupings.

Troubleshooting

  • No Pin option in the Action menu. Confirm you are in the List view or on the task detail page — the Board and Calendar views do not expose it.
  • The Pinned filter returns nothing. The filter is per user: it only matches tasks you pinned. Also check that no other filter (project, assignee, status, date range) is excluding them; reset the filters and try again.
  • A colleague cannot see your pin. That is expected — pins are private per user. Use a shared Label, Category, or Priority instead.
  • A pinned task disappeared from the list. Check whether the task was completed, deleted, moved to another project, or is being hidden by another active filter. Clear the filters to confirm.
