Time Log Settings

Time Log Settings control how PMSuite handles time tracking company-wide: whether a running timer stops itself when an employee's shift ends, whether logged time needs approval before it counts, whether employees get tracker reminders, and whether a Daily Timelog Report is emailed out each day.

These are company-level switches. Day-to-day time entry itself happens in the Time Logs module (each entry records Project, Task, Employee, Start/End Date and Time, and a Memo), and per-project behaviour such as Allow manual time logs is set on the project rather than here.

Who can use it

Administrators with access to the Settings area. Access to individual settings pages is governed by Roles & Permissions.

How to Access

  1. Open Settings from the sidebar (the Settings hub opens on Company Settings, at /account/settings).
  2. In the settings navigation list, choose Time Log Settings.

The settings

SettingWhat it does
Stop timer after shift end timeAutomatically stops a running timer once the employee's shift end time is reached, so a forgotten timer does not keep counting past the end of the shift.
Timelog requires approvalAdds a review step: logged time has to be approved by an admin before it counts as approved. Leave it off if you want logged time accepted as submitted.
Send time tracker remindersTurns time tracker reminders on.
Send Daily Timelog ReportSends a daily time log report. You select which roles receive it.

Stop timer after shift end time

This option works from the employee's assigned shift, which is set up on the attendance/shift side rather than here — the shift's end time is what the timer is stopped against. PMSuite ships with a General Shift of 9:00 AM–6:00 PM, Monday–Friday, and custom shifts can be added, so check which shift an employee is actually on before relying on this. See Shift Roster.

Timelog requires approval

With approval turned on, submitted time goes through a review step before it is counted as approved. The weekly timesheet has its own explicit submission flow — the employee fills in hours per task per day, saves, then uses Submit For Approval, and an admin approves or rejects. See Time Log Approval.

Send Daily Timelog Report

This setting includes a role selection that controls who receives the report, so delivery is decided by role rather than by picking individual users. For on-demand or filtered analysis of logged time, use the Time Log Report instead.

Limitations

  • These four switches are the whole page. The page does not offer company-wide rounding rules, a daily hour cap, or an auto-stop-after-N-hours threshold. Workaround: use Stop timer after shift end time with correct shift end times to bound long timers, and review the Time Log Report for outliers.
  • Manual entry is not controlled here. Whether time can be typed in manually (Start Date, Start Time, End Date, End Time, Memo) instead of using a live timer is the project's Allow manual time logs toggle. Workaround: set it per project — see Project Settings and Manual Time Entry.
  • Time Logs must be an enabled module. If Time Logs is switched off in Module Settings, the tracking features these settings govern will not be visible.
  • Billing and payroll use of logged time is configured elsewhere. Turning logged hours into an invoice is the "Create TimeLog Invoice" path in Creating Invoices, and including logged time in salary is the Add Timelogs to Salary option in payroll — see Running Payroll.

Troubleshooting

Timers keep running past the end of the day. Confirm Stop timer after shift end time is enabled, then check which shift the employee is assigned to and what its end time is — the stop point follows that shift, so an employee on a shift that ends later than you expect will keep counting until then.

Time logs are not showing as approved. If Timelog requires approval is on, entries stay unapproved until someone approves them. Either approve the pending entries or turn the toggle off if your team does not need the review step.

Nobody receives the Daily Timelog Report. Check that Send Daily Timelog Report is enabled and that the role selection includes the people expecting it — recipients are chosen by role, not by individual user.

Employees say they cannot type hours in manually. That is the project-level Allow manual time logs toggle, not a Time Log Settings option. Open the project and enable it there.
