Holidays

Holidays are the company's non-working days. Once a date is marked as a holiday it appears on the holiday calendar for everyone it applies to, and it is treated as a non-working day rather than an absence — so it does not count against attendance or leave.

Holidays do not have to apply to the whole company. Each holiday can be targeted at specific departments, designations or employment types, which is how you handle region-specific or role-specific closures in a single workspace.

Who can use it

  • Admins and any role with the Add Holiday permission can create, edit and delete holidays.
  • Employees see the holiday calendar for the holidays that apply to them. They cannot add or change holidays.

Visibility is permission-driven. If the Holidays entry is missing from a colleague's sidebar, check the Holidays module toggle in Settings → Module Settings first, then their role's holiday permission in Settings → Roles & Permissions.

Prerequisites

  • The Holidays module must be enabled for the relevant user types in Settings → Module Settings.
  • If you plan to target holidays at specific groups, set up your Departments, Designations and employment types first — the targeting fields read from those lists.

How to Access

Navigation: Sidebar → HR → Holidays (/account/holidays).

Holiday calendar

The two views

The toggle in the top-right switches between:

  • Calendar view (default, /account/holidays) — a month grid with month / week / day / list sub-views and prev / next / today navigation. Best for seeing how holidays fall across a month.
  • Table view (/account/holidays/table-view) — a sortable, searchable list. Best for auditing or editing a specific date.

Adding a holiday

  1. Click Add Holiday.
  2. Enter the Date and the Occasion. Both are required.
  3. To add several holidays in one go, click + Add to append another Date and Occasion row. Every row is saved together when you click Save.
  4. Optionally narrow who the holiday applies to using Department, Designation and Employment Type. Each is a multi-select, and Employment Type offers Full Time, Part Time, On Contract, Internship and Trainee.
  5. Click Save.

Leaving the targeting fields empty means the holiday applies to everyone. Only set them when a holiday genuinely applies to part of the company — for example a regional public holiday that affects one office.

Marking recurring weekly days off

Mark Default Holidays is the bulk tool for standing weekly days off, such as every Saturday and Sunday.

  1. Click Mark Default Holidays.
  2. Tick the weekdays that are always non-working.
  3. Confirm.

PMSuite then marks every occurrence of those weekdays across the whole year as a holiday. This is a bulk write, not a rule — it creates individual holiday records for each matching date in the year, so review the calendar afterwards to confirm the result is what you expected.

Limitations and workarounds

  • Mark Default Holidays writes one year at a time. It does not roll forward automatically, so re-run it at the start of each year for your standing weekly days off.
  • It creates records, not a recurring rule. Because each date is a separate record, changing your weekly pattern later means removing the dates you no longer want individually, or from the table view in bulk.
  • Targeting is by department, designation and employment type only. There is no per-employee holiday assignment. To give one person a different non-working day, record it through Leaves instead.
  • Holidays are per company, not per location. If you operate in several countries, model each location as a department (or designation) and target holidays at it.

Troubleshooting

  • An employee says a holiday is missing from their calendar. The holiday is probably targeted. Open it and check whether its Department, Designation or Employment Type filters exclude that person.
  • Mark Default Holidays did nothing. You must tick at least one weekday before confirming; with none selected the action returns without writing anything.
  • The Holidays menu is not in the sidebar. Either the Holidays module is off for that user type in Module Settings, or the role has no holiday permission.
  • A holiday still counts as absence on an attendance report. Confirm the date is saved as a holiday (check the table view) and that it is not excluded by targeting for that employee.
